Arsenal midfielder, Zelalem, interesting Championship trio

Birmingham City, Fulham and Charlton Atheltic are to rival Rangers for the signing of Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem, reports the Daily Record.

The Arsenal youngster had been set to move on loan to Scottish Championship side Rangers but now it has been revealed he has been weighing up options from the second tier of English football.

Zelalem had been in Glasgow yesterday with his father for a tour of Ibrox and Rangers’ training complex before returning to London last night. But its now been revealed that the 18-year old has been mulling over a potential move to the English Championship.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already given his approval of this move as Rangers will be a good place to develop in front of bumper crowds, however, the youngster faces a tough decision in what would be his first loan spell away from the club.

A loan to Fulham or Charlton could be the most appealing as this would mean Zelalem would not need to move and would still be based in London. Keeping tabs on the player will be easier as well as the scouts will not have to travel as far as Scotland.

The attacking midfielder has been capped at under-20 level for USA after being capped for the German under-15,16 and 17 sides. He has featured twice for Arsenal in cup competitions.
