Fulham, Fulham to bid £8 million for forward

Fulham to bid £8 million for forward

According to a report today, Fulham are set to make an £8 million transfer offer for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle.

The Championship side had previously enquired about a loan move for the forward but it now seems they will make a bid to take Gayle permanently.

The bid, in the region of £8 million including add-ons, is short of Crystal Palace’s £10 million valuation of Gayle.  However, according to the report, Fulham are confident of the bid being accepted.

This is partly down to another Championship side, Bristol City, having a bid of a similar amount accepted for Gayle earlier in the week.  However the striker rejected this move and it was claimed he was holding out for a move to Premier League Norwich.  It is unclear whether Gayle would reject Fulham for the same reason.

Palace are keen to sell Gayle after signing strikers Connor Wickham and Patrick Bamford this summer and the player has apparently expressed a desire to leave the club.

Gayle scored 10 goals in 29 appearances last season for Palace.  If he signed for Fulham, he would undoubtedly score more goals in the Championship.
