Top scorer McCormack signs Fulham contract extension

Scottish international striker Ross McCormack has penned a one-year extension to his contract at Fulham. The clubs official website broke the news earlier today and it removes any doubt surrounding his future.

28-year-old McCormack’s new deal will see him remain at Craven Cottage until 2019. Then Fulham boss Felix Magath purchased McCormack in what was said to be a deal worth approximately £11million and he has since gone on to enjoy a fantastic debut season. He has recently been linked with a move to join Hull City, but any talk of a transfer can now be well and truly squashed.

His first campaign in the capital saw him score 19 goals and producing 11 handy assists in the process. He too was named as the Supporters Player of the Season for 2014/15 and news of his contract extension will certainly please the Fulham faithful.

The former Cardiff City man insisted it was never in his mind to leave the club so soon after joining and is now looking forward to the challenge ahead,

“I’m really happy. When I signed for the club I had an optional year on my contract so the club and I have come to the agreement to extend that. I know promotion from this league is not easy but if we don’t get in the play-off’s it will be a disappointing season.”

He’ll be hoping to open his account for the season for Kit Symons’ men in tomorrow afternoons home clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.
