Could QPR be set to lose their number one goalkeeper?

With Charlie Austin expected to leave QPR in the coming weeks, it appears that Robert Green is another most likely to depart Loftus Road. The London Evening Standard reports how Green is posed to re-join former club West Ham United.

With the transfer window set to close on September 1st, Green is hoping to move on following the clubs relegation to the Championship. He has started QPR’s first two games but could now be set for an immediate return to The Premier League and a familiar setting in Upton Park.

New West Ham boss Slaven Bilic supposedly wants competition for places and has identified the goalkeeping department as one which requires improvement. Number one Adrián was joined by former Birmingham City and Motherwell goalkeeper Darren Randolph, but Green brings real experience both for club and country and would be a handy signing.

The 35-year-old previously enjoyed more than 200 appearances with The Hammers, with his last appearance coming in the Championship play-off final win against Blackpool in 2012. Youngster Joe Lumley could now be thrown into the spotlight should Green depart, assuming boss Chris Ramsay fails to sign a replacement. Lumley has enjoyed loan spells with Accrington Stanley and Morecambe in recent seasons.

QPR take on Cardiff City on Saturday, live on Sky Sports 5 at 5pm. Will QPR record their first league win of the season? They can be backed at 20/21 to do so. Cardiff are available at 13/5, with the draw 23/10. To get involved, click here to access the many betting markets available for this match.
