Blackburn trial for Denni Avdic

Blackburn Rovers are set to run the rule over striker Denni Avdic, according to Swedish site Expressen.

The 26-year old striker currently plies his trade in the Dutch Eredvisie for AZ Alkmaar and previously played in the 1. Bundesliga for Werder Bremen.

Avdic has struggled for goals in Holland with only 4 goals in 22 appearances last season and it looks like he will be moving Rovers for at least a week.

Rovers recently lost target man Rudy Gestede to Aston Villa and it seems as though at 6ft 4ins the Swede may be seen as a replacement for Gestede. Reports also continue to link Jordan Rhodes with a big money move to Middlesbrough and various Premier League clubs.

Blackburn are currently under a transfer embargo which means they can only have a squad of 24 established players. At the moment they have 22 so they can only make two free transfer or loan signings.

So, with one year left on the 26-year old’s contract at AZ Alkmaar it looks like the deal would be a loan if the trial period goes to plan
