Birmingham looking at Dutch giant

According to Dutch paper De Telegraaf, Birmingham City are looking at 6’6 striker Henk Veerman.

Little is known about the forward in this country, but he is a fairly young (24) forward with a decent record in the Dutch second division. He currently plies his trade at  Heerenveen, but is struggling for game time.

He has just two top-flight goals, though Heerenveen’s reluctance to start him has likely had an effect. They are not thought to be looking to sell, but NAC Breda and the West Midlands team are looking into the possibility of signing him.

Gary Rowett, Birmingham boss, has recently stated he is beginning to use stats-based recruitment, and finding undervalued gems abroad seems to be a big piece of that, with Maikel Kieftenbeld already joining from the Eredivisie this summer.

Birmingham are looking to bring in a forward and a defender in the coming weeks, and Veerman might just be that forward if they can strike a deal.
