POSTPONED: Brentford v Birmingham City

Sky Bet Championship game between Brentford and Birmingham City has been postponed.

The original match was supposed to take place on Tuesday 19th August but has now been moved to Tuesday 29th August due to the condition of Griffin Park.

Brentford chief executive Mark Devlin said earlier this week: “Searching questions have been asked of all those involved in the pitch construction process. It is an unsatisfactory position to be in.

“Far more damage was caused than we could have expected. Our pitch maintenance contractors, who have, incidentally, been responsible for decent surfaces of the past couple of seasons, worked tirelessly on the surface ahead of the Ipswich game.

“Unfortunately there remain unstable areas of the pitch and I have asked for a complete re-lay as soon as it can be worked on. The players and fans deserve better. All our efforts are focused on the solution and doing it as quickly as possible.”
