Gayle deal could rise to £8 million

According to a report today, the deal taking Dwight Gayle to Bristol City could rise to as much as £8 million.

It was reported on the72 yesterday that Crystal Palace had accepted Bristol City’s £6 million bid for Gayle but now the deal seems to be about to rise to more than that.  With add-ons, it is understood that the deal could rise to £8 million.

Blackburn broke the Championship transfer record when they signed Jordan Rhodes for £8 million from Huddersfield in 2012.  However with more clubs looking to get promoted, or even just stay in the Championship, transfer fees rise every season.

Gayle is reportedly currently in transfer talks with Bristol City, discussing personal terms over his proposed move to Ashton Gate.

City have just been promoted back to the Championship and will be looking for some extra fire power to keep them there.  Gayle, who scored 10 goals for Crystal Palace last season, could be just the man to do that.
