There’s always giant killings in the Capital One Cup, and despite Brentford might not be the tallest of giants, a thrashing from League 2 Oxford is still a big result.
After a 1-1 draw at home to Crawley, Oxford would be looking to get a result and progress to the second round. Brentford pulled off an unlikely 2-2 draw with Ipswich after being 2-0 down going into the last 5 minutes.
Social media was alight last night with fans stunned by the result which saw last seasons play off semi finalists beaten in the most unlikely fashion. Brentford were stunned when Oxford scored 3 goals in the first 12 minutes including an incredible 40 yard lob. Oxford scored a 4th at the start of the second half and kept Brentford at bay for the rest of the match.
Oxford fans are pretty happy!
Feeling like I played the full 90 last night after the mosh pit at Brentford. Still can't believe it. What a night!! #Oufc #AwayDays 💛💙

Still in disbelief after yesterday's 4-0 scoreline! Brentford may have given out eight debuts, but nothing should be taken away from #OUFC.
