Bristol City’s £6m bid for Crystal Palace striker accepted

Sky Sports are reporting that Crystal Palace have accepted a bid from Bristol City for striker Dwight Gayle.

The reports suggest that a bid in the region of £6m has been tabled for the forward and Gayle is now free to talk with Bristol City to discuss personal terms.

There was news earlier in the week on the72.co.uk that Crystal Palace could have release up to seven players to balance the books.

Gayle appears to be the first on the move and after finishing as Crystal Palace’s top goalscorer in the 2013-14 season, with seven goals, and a further five last term, Bristol City are getting a player with Premier League pedigree.

City of course lost Jay Emmanuel-Thomas to Queens Park Rangers early in the summer and are looking to bolster their attacking ranks.

Gayle would do just that. The striker joined Palace in 2013 after asuccessful seasons at Peterborough.

He started off his footballing career at the Arsenal academy but was released in his teenage years.

After impressing at non-league Stansted, he was signed by Dagenham & Redbridge, before joining Peterborough on loan and then permanently in January 2013.

Bristol City suffered an opening day defeat back in the Championship at Sheffield Wednesday and will be hoping Gayle’s goals can lead them to a successful season.
