Crystal Palace interested in Rovers defender

According to a report in The Sun today, Crystal Palace may test Blackburn Rovers’ resolve with a bid for their captain Grant Hanley.

According to the report, Palace staff watched the Scotland international yesterday in Blackburn’s defeat to Wolves and a bid could now follow.  Crystal Palace are one of the clubs that have been linked with Hanley this summer.

With Blackburn still under transfer embargo, they could be tempted by a bid from Palace with talk of around £4 million being needed to lift the embargo from Blackburn.  The sale of Hanley to Palace would surely demand a fee of around this amount.

The player could also be tempted by the offer of Premier League football at Palace after Blackburn were relegated 3 seasons ago.

However, according to the report, Blackburn’s Lancashire rivals Burnley last week had two bids rejected for the defender, suggesting Blackburn want to keep hold of their captain.

Crystal Palace could make Blackburn a better offer however, also without the risk of selling to a rival as Palace compete in the Premier League.
