5 things we learned from the Championship – Week 1

1. MK Dons will not be pushovers

Milton Keynes Dons scored 101 goals last season in League One, finishing second and gaining automatic promotion behind Bristol City. What’s impressive about that total is that it is an average of nearly 2.2 goals scored per game. Today, in week one of the Championship 2015/16 season we learned that they can still knock them in at the highest level. Yes, you can argue that Rotherham are hardly likely the strongest team that the MK Dons will face this season, but you can only beat what is in front of you and the team from Milton Keynes did that well, putting four past their South Yorkshire opponents. Like a boxer who ages, the last thing they lose is that knock-out punch. Seems that Championship defences will need to be prepared for the MK Dons to remain goal-happy.
