AFC Wimbledon vs Plymouth Argyle

Neal Ardley’s Dons are looking to press home their mid table finish from last season. The Dons ended in poor form at the end of last season with no win in their last 8 and only wins in their last 12 games. Ardley has kept last season’s top scorer Adebayo Akinfenwa who spoke to BBC London stating that “there is a good mix in the new squad”. There were a few departures with Alfie Potter (Northampton) and Sammy Moore (Leyton Orient) but Ardley did bring in a few additions Andy Barcham (Portsmouth), Lyle Taylor (Scunthorpe), Tom Elliot (Cambridge).

  • 38 of their 58 points came at home – 10 of their 14 wins

Losing Play Off Semi Finalists Plymouth will be looking to go one better with Derek Adams being appointed in the summer after John Sherridan departed Home Park. Argyle squeezed into the play offs ahead of Luton but lost to Wycombe. With Adams appointment it has led to a few changes ins and outs at the club, Lewis Alessandra (Rochdale), Jason Banton (Wycombe), Anthony O’Connor (Burton) have left the club. Despite speculation top scorer Reuben Reid has stayed at Home Park, with Adams adding Gary Sawyer (Leyton Orient), Jake Jervis and Graham Carey (Ross County).

  • Alessandra scored 16 of their 55 goals last season
  • Only gained 26 of 71 points away from home
  • Kept 21 clean sheets last season

Head to Head: 8 meetings – Wimbledon 3, Plymouth 1, Draw

Last Meeting – Plymouth 1-1 Wimbledon 14 April 2015

  • Last 2 meetings have been draws
  • Argyle are unbeaten at Kingsmeadow – DDDW

Prediction – Wimbledon 1-1 Plymouth
