Millwall: Morison a Lion and ready to claw – Twitter reacts

It had long been mooted that Steve ‘The Shift’ Morison’s days at Leeds United were drawing to an end. The signing of Chris Wood really drove the final nail into any remaining hope? Leeds were wanting to remove his wage, reportedly in the region of £20,000, from the wage bill and there was talk of a move to Millwall, the high wages being a stumbling block to any potential deal. That is until Leeds United agreed to a severance deal on the last year of his contract, a move that allowed Morison to join Millwall for the third time. Speaking to Millwall’s official website, Morison said he was excited by the move and cannot wait to get started against newly-promoted Shrewsbury Town.

Morison’s move to The Den was completed on Tuesday afternoon and his signing signalled a third start at the club, three periods where he has made 137 appearances for The Lions, scoring 48 times and creating 24 goal assists. The returning striker is raring to go and prove a few people wrong in doing so, making his third stint in London into a successful one. Speaking to the website, Morison said,

“I am absolutely delighted and back where I want to be. The season is a few days away so I can get myself sorted, get myself settled, have a couple of days with the boys and get ready to go and beat Shrewsbury. It will be fantastic on Saturday; no doubt it will be about 100 degrees, it will be stupidly hot and the game will be played at 100 miles an hour. But that is what I am most excited about; I’m excited about coming here and looking forward to playing games of football, because I have missed that.” Steve Morison: Millwall website – August 5, 2015

With Steve back as a Lion and ready to sharpen his claws, how have Millwall fans reacted to his third coming on Twitter?

Steve signs as a Lion – Twitter reacts

From quiet optimism…

…to another with cautious optimism.

From someone not quite sure…

…to someone who IS sure.

From analogies on bad relationship break-ups…

…to almost giddy excitement.

The final word goes to a very excited Charlie…

Morison is a grafter and a great holder-up of the ball – whilst he might not score a hatful himself, he will no doubt set goals up for others as well as cause consternation for opposing defenders with his aerial strength and prowess. It might not have worked out at Leeds, it could very well do so with the drop down into League One for Steve Morison.
