West Ham join race for QPR striker

According to reports today, West Ham have joined the race for QPR striker Charlie Austin.

The news comes as West Ham’s main striker Enner Valencia may be out until Christmas with an injury sustained in the Europa League last Thursday.  Therefore, West Ham believe they need a replacement and have identified QPR man Austin as a main target.

QPR boss Chris Ramsey today admitted that he expects Austin to leave the club this transfer window, along with Leroy Fer.  As of yet however, it is understood that no bids have been accepted by QPR for Austin.

Austin scored 18 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season for a QPR side that struggled all season and were eventually relegated.  This led to an England call-up in May for the ex-Burnley forward.

Austin is now proven at Premier League level so would not be seen as much of a risk for any club looking to sign him.  However it is rumored that it could take up to £14 million to take Austin from QPR.
