QPR midfielder heading to Sunderland

QPR midfielder Leroy Fer is poised to move on loan to Premier League side Sunderland, according to reports today.

Fer has experienced successive Premier League relegations in the last two seasons, first with Norwich City and then with QPR.  However, this doesn’t seem to have put off Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat.

It is understood that the deal will be a season-long loan deal as QPR will be looking to get promoted back to the Premier League this coming season.

Fer will join his cousin Patrick van Aanholt at Sunderland along with their new Dutch signing Jeremain Lens.  Advocaat is looking to give Sunderland’s team a new look and solidify their position in the Premier League, avoiding relegation scares like that of last season.

QPR on the other hand may be looking forward to getting Fer’s wages off their wage budget for the season, giving them more room to move in the transfer market.
