Sandro Wagner, Leeds and Blackburn interested in Hertha Berlin’s Sandro Wagner

Leeds and Blackburn interested in Hertha Berlin’s Sandro Wagner

Leeds United are interested in signing Hertha Berlin forward Sandro Wagner, but face competition from Blackburn and Darmstadt, reports Tutto Mercato Web.

Leeds went into the summer looking to offload three strikers, with Billy Sharp leaving for Sheffield United, The Whites are looking to replace Steve Morison and Nicky Ajose with better options. Leeds are on the verge of signing Brentford’s Stuart Dallas and may explore further options in an attempt to strengthen the side.

Wagner failed to score in 15 Bundesliga appearances for Hertha last season. In total he has made 75 appearances in Germany’s capital city, scoring 8 and assisting 2. His most successful spell was in the 2008/09 season with Duisburg, scoring 7 and assisting 8 in Germany’s second division.

The ex-Bayern Munich man is also attracting the attention of Blackburn Rovers, according to Tutto Mercato Web. Rovers have already lost striker Rudy Gestede to Premier League side Aston Villa and his previous strike partner, Jordan Rhodes, is being linked with a move away from the club. In addition to this, forwards Luke Varney, Josh King and Leon Best have all departed the club.

Blackburn will be looking to add new faces to the ranks and are reportedly looking in to securing Sandro’s signature. Standing at 6ft 4 inches tall, Wagner would be used as a target man as opposed to a direct replacement for Gestede or Rhodes, if he was to leave as well.

On the other hand, Leeds have already seen forwards Chris Wood and Lee Erwin arrive at the club. The Whites are looking to move Morison and Ajose on and if they do, Wagner may be used as another target option up front.
