Rumour: Fee and add-ons agreed for Gestede

Rumours are circulating this morning that Aston Villa have finally agreed a fee for Blackburn Rovers striker Rudy Gestede.

According to these rumours, the initial fee is believed to fee £6 million, widely reported as Blackburn’s asking price for Gestede.  However, the deal is also rumoured to include £2 million in guaranteed add-ons, that Blackburn will receive for Gestede at specific points in the future.

The deal for Gestede is also rumoured to include a clause that means Blackburn get 25% off whatever Aston Villa sell Gestede for, if they ever do.

This deal is a lot better for Blackburn than the £6 million it was widely reported Villa would be paying for Gestede.  As Rovers are a club under transfer embargo, they need as much money as they can from every deal they complete so this explains the add-ons.

The only surprise perhaps is that the deal doesn’t include any players going the other way to Gestede, to play for Blackburn, as not only are Blackburn under transfer embargo, they are also short on players.

It must be stressed that at this point the specifics of the deal for Gestede are only a rumour but it makes for interesting reading.
