Time at Brentford is up for Douglas

Brentford  midfielder Jonathan Douglas has been told he is surplus to requirements at the club, report Sky Sports.

The 33-year-old has been with The Bees for four years, but the man who has made 147 appearances for the club has been told by new manager, Marinus Dijkhuizen that he is no longer needed.

Douglas only signed a new contract with the club in February after playing a crucial role in the club’s run to the Championship Play-offs.

But the Irishman’s absence from the squad beaten at Luton Town on Tuesday night aroused suspicion, and the Dijkhuizen confirmed those suspicions after the match.

“He’s not part of the squad, he’s training separately.” said Dijkhuizen rather abruptly.

“We decided with (directors of football) Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles that it’s better to move on, for his future, and for Brentford.”
