Sheffield United’s Matt Done faces long spell on the sidelines

Sheffield United forward Matt Done is set to miss the start of the season after breaking his collarbone in last night’s 4-1 victory against Matlock Town, as revealed by manager Nigel Adkins.

Done returned to action for the Blades against Newcastle on Saturday, following time out due to another injury. The news that he has now broken his collarbone is a further blow for the 27-year-old, and he could face up to two months on the sidelines whilst it heals.

Blades’ boss Adkins took to Twitter to confirm the news of the injury, and it means Done will miss Sheffield United’s trip to Gillingham on the 8th August for their season opener. The winger is likely to return for United’s home game against Bury on Saturday 12th September if he does require the full time to recover.

Having joined from Rochdale on deadline day in the last transfer window, Done went on to make 17 appearances for The Blades and saw a good return, scoring 8 and assisting 3, 1 goal coming in United’s 7-6 aggregate loss to Swindon in the Play-Off Semi Finals.
