As Hull City begin their Austrian tour there is much speculation on who is going to leave and who is going to join the relegated Hull City. However much has come apparent that Irish winger Robbie Brady will be departing imminently.
This leaves only Robertson as a proven left winger, therefore it can be seen that Bruce is attempting to recruit left wingers. A deal struck with Chesterfield has been confirmed in the region of £1.3 million for Clucas, who has shown to be versatile within midfield and within the defensive ranks.
Clucas was not a feature of the opening game in the Austrian tour, while Clayton Failla was trialled with a on the bench start. Failla is proven goal scorer from midfield, scoring 45 goals in 92 games for Maltese Premier league side Hibernians – exactly what Hull City need. In 2012 Failla was award Maltese player of the year, scoring 13 goals.
The Maltese international came on as a second half substitute in the 0-0 draw against Hanover 96 on Sunday evening, but I’m sure we will be seeing plenty more of him in the remaining games of the Austrian tour.
