West Brom and Villa eyeing up £10 million rated Hull defender

According to the Birmingham Mail today, West Brom and Aston Villa are both interested in a deal for Hull City center-back James Chester with the Tigers rating the 26 year-old at £10 million.

Both Villa and the Baggies are in the market for a center-back and, with Chester only having one year left on his contract the KC Stadium, could be able to get the defender for less than the £10 million asking price.

A Welsh international, Chester started his career with Premier League giants Manchester United at the age of just eight and spent six years at Old Trafford as a professional, making just one first team appearance.

After loans to Peterborough United, Plymouth, and Carlisle Chester was sold to Hull in a deal worth around £300,000.

Chester became an ever present for the Tigers during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons where he played in 44 of the 46 league games in both campaigns, but injuries have hampered his appearances over the last two years.

Despite this, Chester has still gone on to rack up over 150 appearances for Hull during his four year stay with the Tigers and is well-liked by the fans.
