Leeds United: Berardi and Rösler interviews

It’s all over in Austria, the scoreline a 2-1 defeat for Leeds United and column inches being scribbled elsewhere regarding the after-match scenes that saw both Leeds and Eintracht Frankfurt fans involved in the disgraceful scenes on the far side of the pitch. After the game, both head coach Uwe Rösler and full-back Gaetano Berardi spoke to LUTV, Leeds United’s in-house TV channel and gave their reaction.

Berardi also spoke at great length about his feelings regarding preseason, and what he had to say was positive. Rösler has been working the players hard whilst they have been in Austria where they have often  undertaken punishing double training sessions in the bleaching heat as the Leeds United coaching staff bring the players up to speed. On this, Berardi is quoted on the Leeds United official website as saying,

“We work hard every day in training but I feel good. I feel good in the team and it was a good season for me.” – Gaetano Berardi – Leeds United website July 23, 2015

The game against Frankfurt, which saw him complete a full 90 minutes (one of only three players as well as Liam Cooper and Scott Wootton), also led Berardi to reflect on the game itself and how Leeds United can take those positives forward into what will be another hard game against further German opposition in TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Summing up the game, Berardi says,

“It was a good game – they played very well and had a lot of the ball. That made it difficult but it was a good game. I think we have to do better – the coach knows this. But we are in a good way. The conditions made it very hard, but that was for us and for Frankfurt. It’s important to play in these matches and we have to look forward.” Gaetano Berardi – Leeds United website July 23, 2015

It is good to see Leeds United in general, and players like Gaetano Berardi in particular, taking the positives from the game into consideration and using them to frame themselves for another difficult game against Hoffenheim in Norway.
