It has been reported that Leeds United are set to bid £5 million for Ternana Feilpe Avenatti. The 22 year old could be the third striker Leeds have signed this summer.
The young striker has sparked much interest from Premier League clubs such as Aston Villa and Watford. Uwe Rossler has expressed how he would like more talent in the squad, but he was already spent money this summer, £3m on Chris Wood alone. With Avenatti standing at 6 ft 5 he is tough and strong, and having scored 12 goals in 52 games for his current club Ternana Calcio. He is also a full international, having scored 1 goal for Uruguay in 5 internationals.
With Steve Morison and Lee Erwin both standing at 6’2″ and Chris Wood standing at 6’3″, something Leeds United aren’t, short, of are tall strikers. If Rossler has his bid accepted for Avenatti it would add another striker to an already crowded area of the club. With Antenucci, Doukara and Sharp already on the books it would seem that Leeds would have to sell at least 2 strikers to cut down on attackers.
Would Feilpe Avenatti really add anything to the squad, or would he just be another bench warmer in a squad already full. I fully trust Uwe Rossler to make the right decision and I’m sure sales of strikers are going to come in the next few days, but I am worried about the lack of depth in areas of the squad where I think the money could be better spent.
