In sweltering heat and bleaching sun, Leeds United went down 2-1 to German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt after taking a 1-0 lead into half time. A struggle at times against a very good German side, Leeds at least showed resilience and endeavour and didn’t look overawed by their much more polished opponents. A close game at times, it was only a couple of defensive errors that let the German side equalise and then score the winning goal.
After a couple of low-key games against Harrogate Town and York City, it was good to see a hard-working and, to be fair, a decent performance from a Leeds United team against a pretty decent and well-drilled German side. The reaction to the game and the performance has, on the whole, been favourable from Leeds United fans on Twitter.

Can't be disappointed with 2-1 against a Bundesliga side. Sounds like we created a couple of decent chances too, c/o Byram at RW. #LUFC

A notes of creeping negativity tinged with realism
#lufc Yes its a friendly against a decent team. However the fact still remains that we have little footballing technique.

And the final word goes to Mr Geldard for voicing what all Leeds fans are thinking…
Id rather #lufc lose every pre-season match to a Frankfurt standard team than win 164-0 v pub teams like FC Hurdygurdydury. Alot more learnt
