Clarke Coming To Pompey

Portsmouth are attempting to bring Ipswich Town youth player Matt Clarke into the club to boost defensive options.

Manager Paul Cook is keen to seal a deal for the 18-year-old before the Blues’ next pre-season game against Coventry City tomorrow.

Clarke has risen through the Tractor Boys’ academy to make four appearances for the Championship side. He recently signed a new contract at Portman Road, then telling the club website:

“I’m delighted to be staying at Ipswich and I’m pleased to get the deal signed today. I’m happy to be continuing to learn here.” 

According to reports from Twitter, Clarke is currently travelling down South to put pen-to-paper on a loan deal and gain valuable first-team experience.
