Ex-Leeds United and Reading winger Jimmy Kebe has been released by Spanish side Real Mallorca after failing to impress following the signing of a short-term deal.
RealMallorca.co.uk say that the 31-year-old’s departure hasn’t been announced by the club and Kebe has instead left ‘through the back-door’. The reason for the departure is unknown, but it could be a combination of ability and poor fitness following his release from Crystal Palace last season.
The Mali international missed out on Mallorca’s pre-season opener yesterday and it now turns out that the reason for this was his release. Los Bermellones reported that a long-term deal at the club was dependent on his success during his initial contract at the club.
With Jimmy Kebe now a free agent, it is unclear where he will end up next. His time at Leeds United didn’t work out as planned, despite a fantastic goal in The White’s 5-1 demolition of Huddersfield weeks after he arrived in January 2014.
@real_mallorca A lad said he saw Kebe at a cinema in Reading yesterday. I noticed he wasn't in friendly squad, has he come home do you know?

There have even been rumours of a return to Reading as the above tweet suggests. The tweet received this reply:
@IanM1871 there was no hint yesterday. But the news broke this morning, and he isn't in any of the photos the club have posted today either.

How true this may be is uncertain, but one thing is for certain, Kebe won’t be spending next season at the Iberostar Stadium in Mallorca.
