Two Yorkshire clubs in £10 million race to sign Blackburn’s star striker

Championship sides Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday are set to battle it out for the signature of Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old forward is valued at £10 million and the two clubs are hoping to sign Rhodes as they look towards promotion to the Premier League.

Blackburn have turned down all bids for the player over the last 18 months, but may be forced to listen to an eight-figure sum. Rovers face certain financial problems, and are currently restricted to signing free transfers and loans due to their FFP embargo.

Boro attempted to sign Rhodes last season but were unsuccessful in their attempts. Now they have re-kindled that interest, but face opposition from free-spending Sheffield Wednesday, who have also identified the Scottish striker as someone they would like to bring to Hillsborough.

Blackburn, meanwhile, are looking at one of Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer targets, South Korean midfielder Kim Bo-Kyung. The 25-year-old is a free agent after deciding against extending his short-term contract with Wigan Athletic.
