Rangers raid Wigan

Rangers have agreed a double swoop for Martyn Waghorn and James Tavernier from Wigan.

The fees haven’t yet been announced and will probably stay undisclosed, even when the players are officially unveiled.

Wigan are rebuilding their squad after going down and are selling off a few players to make way for new arrivals; they’ve already signed Will Grigg to replace Waghorn.

Tavernier spent last season on loan at Bristol City, who went up this year, so it seems strange for Wigan to not use that experience to try and get promoted.

Waghorn scored 7 goals in 25 games for Wigan, which, whilst hardly prolific, isn’t a bad record in a struggling side. He might find it easier in the Scottish leagues, though that is not always the case.

Rangers have already signed several players from the Football League, with Wes Foderingham and Tom Lang of Swindon and Birmingham respectively moving there.
