Leeds looking to offload forward three

Leeds United are looking to offload strikers Billy Sharp, Steve Morison and Nicky Ajose following the arrivals of Chris Wood and Lee Erwin this summer.

As the above Tweet shows, The Whites have offered the strikers to other clubs in the hope of stirring up interest.

Billy Sharp seems the most likely to leave out of the three who have been made available. The 29-year-old has been linked with a return to Bramall Lane and a third spell at Sheffield United. Boss Nigel Adkins is a big fan of Sharp and has previously signed him at Scunthorpe, Southampton and Reading.

Another player heading for the exit door is Nicky Ajose. Joining from Peterborough last summer, Ajose barely got a chance to prove himself in the Leeds United first-team and spent most of the season out on-loan at Crewe in League One. A number of good performances could mean that he will see a lot of interest from League One level, and with Ajose’s exclusion from Leeds’ pre-season tour of Austria, it surely signals the end of his time at Elland Road.

Steve Morison found himself leading the line for most of the second half of last season. Despite this, 2 goals and 2 assists from 26 appearances meant that The Whites searched for a replacement during this transfer window, and it arrived in the form of Chris Wood. With the new recruits, and a new style of play, Morison will find himself falling down the pecking order and very limited game-time. A few Championship and League One clubs are looking into securing the 31-year-old’s signature.
