Sheffield Wednesday complete move for Watford’s goal scoring midfielder

Sheffield Wednesday have tonight announced the signing of former England U19 international Lewis McGugan on a three-year contract following a successful loan period during the 2014-15 season.

The 26 year-old was a popular figure at Hillsbrough last campaign as he was voted as the Owls Player of the Month for both February and March.

A specialist in set pieces, McGugan started his career with Nottingham Forest and played at the City Ground for seven years – racking up over 200 appearances and 40 goals from his midfield role.

After joining Watford in the summer of 2013, the diminutive player scored 11 goals in all competitions for the Hornets in his first season at Vicarage Road but was sparsely used during the start of the 2014-15 season.

This led to two separate loan spells to Hillsbrough where McGugan immendiately became a popular figure with the fans as he made 22 appearances for the Owls, scoring three times and contributing three assists.
