Newcastle and West Brom among four clubs eyeing up a move for Reading international

ESPN have reported that four Premier League outfits are interested in bringing in Reading’s Garath McCleary to their squad with the 28 year-old recently impressing on international duty with Jamaica.

The clubs who are reportedly interested in a deal are Newcastle, West Brom and newly-promoted teams Watford and Bournemouth.

Playing in both the Copa America and the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer, McCleary has scored two goals for the Reggae Boyz helping them to reach the semi-finals of the Gold Cup.

Born in England, the winger started his career in the non-league with the likes of Oxford City, Slough Town and Bromley before securing a move to Nottingham Forest in 2008.

A regular on the team sheet at the City Ground, McCleary’s performances in the 2011-12 season won him Forest’s Player of the Season award as he netted nine league goals.

In 2012 the Jamaican turned down a new contract from Forest to play in the Premier League for Reading where he has gone on to make over 100 appearances.
