Rovers close in on Premier League youngster

Blackburn are close to securing a loan deal for Everton striker Chris Long.

The forward went on loan to Brentford last year, scoring 4 goals in 10 games for the promotion chasers, including one against Blackburn.

Long was starting to hit his stride last year before a succession of injuries stopped him in his tracks, but he will be looking to impress again on loan this year.

Blackburn have already lost Josh King, who can play as a forward, and reports of Premier League interest in Rudy Gestede will not cease, so they will be in the market for a striker.

However, Long is a diminutive forward, standing at just 5’7 – a far cry from the 6’4 Gestede, so it would not be surprising to see another striker come in.
