Woolford whisked away to Bramall Lane

As we reported yesterday, 29 year old Martyn Woolford has today been confirmed as a Sheffield United player with a two year deal.

Woolford has been subject to speculation for around a week now and rumours of a potential move to Bramall Lane were confirmed as true to The72 yesterday and have been confirmed by the Blades officially today.

Woolford, 29, was released by Millwall at the end of last season and the deal sees him link up with former boss Nigel Adkins, who he worked with at Glanford Park. Woolford is also Adkins’ first signing as Blades boss.

United broke the news on Twitter but in an article on the Club’s website, manager Nigel Adkins commented:

“We are very aware of the talents Martyn brings to Bramall Lane. He can play in several attacking positions, is fit, strong, robust, honest, hard-working and has a fantastic professional attitude. He has been consistently available for selection over many seasons and knows the demands required of this level.”

Last season for Millwall, Woolford made 40 appearances and contributed 3 goals playing 2881 minutes of football.
