Derby still in for Burnley’s Shackell

Derby County manager Paul Clement has said that the club are still interested in Burnley defender Jason Shackell but there has been little movement since the Rams’ first bid.

The club offered £2 million to the Clarets for the 31-year-old to return to the side he left back in 2012. Following Derby’s pre-season defeat to Grimsby town, Clement told the Derby Telegraph: “I cannot tell you anymore than I have done in the past.”

Shackell missed the start of Burnley’s pre-season with a suspected calf problem yet Rams fans are determined to get the defender through the door. He was ever-present for Burnley last season in the Premier League and impressed with a number of strong displays against top opposition.
