MK Dons join host of teams interested in Carlisle starlet

Recent reports have suggested that Milton Keynes Dons are one of a number of clubs interested in snapping up Carlisle United’s Kyle Dempsey.

Dempsey, just 19-years-old, plays in the centre of midfield and had a breakout season for Carlisle where he featured in over 40 league matches for the club.

Carlisle fended off approaches from Barnsley in the January transfer window but with the Dons reportedly tabling a £450’000 bid this time around, it might be difficult for the League Two club to turn down.

The Dons are continually searching for a long-term replacement for the departed Dele Alli and could believe Dempsey, who has shown plenty of talent over the previous season, could be the ideal player to bring to the club.

The Dons reportedly face competition from Barnsley and Huddersfield, but could offer Dempsey arguably more regular first-team football and a proven record of developing young players.

The Dons are currently away on their pre-season training camp in the Republic of Ireland and manager Karl Robinson knows that no transfers are guaranteed, making it important for him to focus on the group of players he has at his disposal already.

Should Dempsey join the Dons, they will have three central midfielders that could compete for starting positions regularly; Darren Potter and Samir Carruthers being the other two players.
