Birmingham City are reportedly close to a shock move for John Guidetti.
The young striker is out of contract and has had spells on loan at Celtic, Burnley, Stoke and Feyenoord, with mixed levels of success.
He netted 20 times in 23 for Feyenoord but has been unable to match that success on British soil. However, he impressed as Sweden U21’s won the European Championships this year.
Blues are in for a striker to give last year’s Player of the Year Clayton Donaldson a challenge, and Rowett seems to think that Guidetti has all the right attributes.
As with all of the players they seem to have been linked with, Birmingham may have trouble paying wages – that said, as he is out of contract he may take a slightly lower wage than he was on at City for regular football.
Guidetti would be an exciting talent to have around the club, and despite the mixed success of his loan spells, his record of 39 in 80 senior matches speaks for itself.
