Rotherham sign former Forest favourite

Rotherham have today made their 5th signing of the summer, snapping up free agent Danny Collins after his contract with Nottingham Forest expired.

Collins, who has Premier League experience with Sunderland and Stoke, is the second Rotherham signing in as many days following their capture of attacking midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma yesterday.

The experienced central defender, 34, had been in contact with two other Championship clubs, but expressed a great desire to sign for Rotherham according to Millers boss Steve Evans.

Evans had this to say about his latest recruit: “His references were impeccable in terms of his fitness, hunger and desire.  It all shone like a beacon of light in the ocean and that attracted me to him”.

Although only making eight appearances for Forest last season after losing the captaincy to Chris Cohen, Collins is a good addition to a group of players looking to cement their position as a Championship side.
