Gills strike deal to sign German defender

Justin Edinburgh and his team struck gold late Thursday afternoon as they finally announced the signing of German centre back Max Ehmer from QPR on a three-year deal.

Patience was the key for Gillingham as they had been chasing Ehmer’s signature since his loan with the club finished at the end of last season where Ehmer, 23, played 29 times and impressed alongside John Egan, forming a solid partnership at the back.

However, signing the QPR man to a permanent deal wasn’t easy for the Gills boss as he still had one year left on his QPR deal but Edinburgh stated that “It’s always an advantage when you do get a loan player and they do settle at the club”.

Ehmer becomes Gillngham’s fifth first team signing of the transfer window and both the manager and chairman have stated that business isn’t finished for the summer just yet.
