The72 Prospects – The Championship

The Football League has a rich heritage in young players and it’s only grown in the past few years. In England’s Under-21 squad this summer, 11 players played in the Championship at some point over the 2014-15 season with seven actually being owned by a second-tier club.

It’s a really impressive statistic, something you wouldn’t see repeated in other countries, which really shows the strength of depth in the Football League. In this weekly column, we will look at three young players from each league before the start of the season, following their journeys whilst also keeping an eye on other up-and-coming talent across all 72 clubs.

The rules are simple, the prospect has to have played a game for his club and be either 21 or under before the start of the 2015-16 season. We are also trying to avoid some of the more obvious picks here but all the big hitters will also be followed during the season.

Here’s a look at three players to keep an eye out for in the Championship this season.
