French youth international joins Sheffield Wednesday on loan

Confirmed this afternoon on Sheffield Wednesday’s official site, Braga defender Vincent Sasso has joined The Owls on loan for the 2015/16 season.

Sasso is the second man to join up with Wednesday this season along with Dutch centre back, Darryl Lachman.

Playing for various youth teams including European giants Paris Saint Germain, he finally signed a professional contract with fellow French club, FC Nantes. He made his competitive debut against Boulogne in a French Cup game two years after signing his pro deal. He went on to make 24 league apperances for Nantes before going to Portugese side Beira-Mar.

He spent half a season at Beira-Mar and managed to score 2 goals in 15 games before SL Braga came in and signed him on a four-year-deal. Since then Sasso has only played 17 games for Braga. Featuring mainly for the reserves. His decision to leave Beira-Mar was a poor one as it has limited his playing time massively, that could affect him in England.

On the other hand, he does have experience for all the French youth sides, representing them from Under 16 all the way to Under 21.

In addition to the signing of Sasso, fellow centre back Glenn Loovens has signed a one year extension to stay at the club. Good news today at S6, all we need now is a manager…
