Leeds and Reading see bids rejected for Blues star

Birmingham have rejected bids from Championship rivals Leeds and Reading for Clayton Donaldson.

Donaldson was the Midlands club’s top scorer last year, and won several end of season awards, so is highly sought after.

However, boss Gary Rowett is keen to hang on to the forward who signed on a free last year. That said, at 31, it must be tempting to cash in on Donaldson and rumours of a second bid are likely to come to fruition.

The original bid was thought to have been somewhere between £500k and £1.5m, but figures vary. A fee of £2m is thought to be the asking price, though Blues have reassured fans that he will be staying at the club.

Leeds boss Uwe Rösler managed Donaldson before at Brentford, and is looking to restart that partnership at Elland Road.
