Southend weighing up move for ex-Ipswich midfielder

Southend are considering a move for Anthony Wordsworth, according to Crawley News.

He played for Crawley at the end of the 2014/15 season and after some impressive performances for the club – despite them being relegated down to League 2 – he has caught the eye of Southend chiefs.

Manager Phil Brown has confirmed his interest in the 26-year old, who is available for absolutely nothing after his release from Ipswich.

Wordsworth has also played for Colchester and he has good experience of League 1 football, something which could prove to be key for Southend, who have just been promoted to the third tier of English football.

Brown also confirmed that he was interested in signing striker David Mooney as well.
