According to reports, Wolves are leading the race for want-away Leicester City striker Chris Wood with the striker making just four league appearances for the Foxes last season.
Wolves are facing competition from fellow Championship outfits Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers as the striker is entering the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium – meaning a cut price deal is likely.
Wood started his career in New Zealand with Hamilton Wanderers and after a prolific year in New Zealand’s top tier was snapped up by Premier League side West Brom after a successful trial in 2009.
The 23 year-old struggled for game time with the Baggies and was sent out on a string of loans to various English sides including Barnsley, Brighton & Hove Albion, Birmingham City, Bristol City and Millwall.
Acquired by Leicester following a successful loan at Millwall, where Wood managed to net 11 goals in 19 Championship games, the New Zealand international continued this form in his first season with the Foxes as he hit nine goals in 20 games.
The last two season have proved to be less fruitful and seen the attacker fall down the pecking order with just 30 league appearances and five goals during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
A regular feature in the international scene, Wood has scored 13 goals in 39 appearances for the All Whites including hitting a hat-trick in the OFC Nations Cup against the Solomon Islands.
