Wigan plotting audacious bid for League 1 forward

Wigan are preparing a bid for Matt Done from Sheffield United according to Vital Football.

The 26-year old has only recently joined the Blades, but the Latics are plotting a bid to see if they can lure the winger/striker away from Bramall Lane already.

With McClean heading to West Brom, he could be a good replacement for the Republic of Ireland international. Wigan have also made bids for Chesterfield’s Sam Clucas – who was viewed as the ideal replacement – but they appear to have been priced out of a move for him.

Instead, they could now turn to Done. He managed to bag himself seven goals in his fourteen appearances for Sheffield United at the end of the 2014/15 season and it is highly unlikely that new Blades boss Nigel Adkins is going to want to let him leave so soon after joining.

However, as previously mentioned, the Latics are preparing a cheeky bid for to test the club’s resolve and to see if they would be willing to part ways with the forward already, with the DW Stadium side preparing for life in League 1.
