According to ESPN, Newcastle United are keen on a deal to bring Watford front man Troy Deeney to St James’ Park with the Magpies desperately needing to add strikers to their squad.
Being the Championships joint-second top scorer last season it is little surprise Deeney has attracted attention from Premier League sides as the 26 year-old netted 21 goals and also led his team in assists with eight.
A driving force behind Watford’s promotion last season, the striker has been with the Hornets since 2010 and has consistently performed; scoring 20+ goals in his last 3 seasons at Vicarage Road.
Starting his career with Walsall, Deeney came to prominence during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons where he netted 12 and 14 goals respectively in League One, leading to a £250,000 move to Watford.
Likely to command a fee of over £10 million due to the consistent nature of his play and ability to find his teammates, Deeney would be a massive coup for Newcastle if they could seal the deal.
