Middlesbrough set to move for prolific French forward

Following the disappointment of a play-off final loss, Boro boss Aitor Karanka has began searching for forwards to replace the already-departed Patrick Bamford and is eyeing up French talent Frederic Mendy, who is currently with Primeira Liga side Estoril.

According to Portuguese news outlet A Bola, Mendy has drawn the attention of many clubs due to his goal scoring exploits with Middlesbrough among those keen to sign the striker.

The 26 year-old target man made a name for himself in Singapore with S. League side Etoile as he netted 21 goals in 33 appearances – winning both the S. League title and the Singapore League Cup, while personally picking up the S.League Top Scorer accolade.

After moving to fellow Singapore club Home United, Mendy continued his impressive goal scoring as he finished his two season stint with United with a record of 41 goals in 55 games, again winning the S.League Top Scorer honour in 2012.

Portuguese top division side Estoril bought the Paris-born striker in 2013 and loaned him to Segunda Liga side Uniao Madeira for the 2014-15 season, where he managed to score an impressive 24 goals in 52 games.
