Former Watford boss Jokanovic appointed manager of Israeli champions

Following his departure from Watford a few weeks ago and the appointment of Quique Flores, former Hornets boss Slavisa Jokanovic has been snapped up by Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv amid plenty of interest from other clubs.

Last season Jokanovic led Watford to the Premier League as they achieved automatic promotion, finishing just one point behind winners Bournemouth, but failed to come to an agreement over a new contract at Vicarage Road which ultimately led to the Serbian parting ways with the club.

The 46 year-old former midfielder made a name for himself as a coach in his home country of Serbia with Partizan Belgrade as he, in his first coaching job, led the club to back-to-back Serbian SuperLiga titles and Serbian Cup victories.

One of the most decorated and renowned clubs in Israeli football, Maccabi Tel Aviv appoint Jokanovic on the back of a hugely successful season in which they achieved their domestic treble, as well as gaining a Champions League qualifying spot.
