Derby have serious intent.

Spurred on no doubt by yet another promotion-bid derailment, Derby seem to really have had enough and are looking upwards already with the club chairman said to be willing to invest big. A managerial change saw Steve McClaren out and to Newcastle to be replaced by a new manager in Paul Clements who winged in from Real Madrid. With such high-profile changes, high hopes come hand-in-hand. Backing up this intent, The Rams have brought two class players to the iPro Stadium in ex-Reading central defender Alex Pearce and ex-Aston Villa striker Darren Bent. They have also signed ex-Leeds, Liverpool and England goalkeeper Scott Carson from relegated Wigan and are reputedly in the market for Aston Villa’s £2.5m rated Andreas Weimann.

Serious intent indeed as Derby look to wipe out the fall from grace at the end of last season that saw a pitiful return of points from their last dozen or so games.
