Agent confirms Leeds United definitely in for Uruguayan full back

All may not be lost for Leeds United in their pursuit of Uruguyan full back Alvaro Pereira say reports coming from Italy where Leeds’ interest in the attack-minded full-back is said to still be strong.

Reports emanating from Inside Futbol via Italian website Tutto Mercato Web (TMW) seem to confirm that Leeds United are interested in the rapid and rampaging full back Álvaro Pereira who is currently involved for Uruguay in the 2015 Copa America, playing in last 1-0 victory for Los Charrúas against Jamaica. With reports from some quarters insisting that Pereira is likely to shy away from a move to Yorkshire and Elland Road, it seems that Leeds United still have interest in him [Pereira]. TMW report an interview between FCInter1908.it and Alfredo Regueira, Pereira’s agent, in which Regueira laid bare the options that included some excellent news for fans of The White.

One of the first things that Regueira spoke about was the situation surrounding the redemption clause in Pereira’s contract stating,

“Stiamo ancora parlando. L’Estudiantes ha l’obbligo di riscattare il giocatore nel caso raggiunga una percentuale prefissata di gare.”  – Tuttomercatoweb

“We are still talking to Estudiantes [about] the obligation to redeem the player in the event [he] reaches a pre-determined percentage of matches.” – Google Translate

However, it is a later comment that will build confidence in Leeds fans that the club are ready to make a statement in signing the double Portuguese league and cup winner with Porto before his move to Inter Milan and Serie A in 2012. Regueira said that interest from the English Championship side is still there saying,

“Il Leeds? E’ vero del loro interesse” – Tuttomercatoweb

“Leeds? It’s true of their interest.” – Google Translate

With news such as this there is still a real hope that Leeds United could very well be still in the market to make a statement marquee signing after the Uruguayan returns from his Copa America 2015 duties.
